Charles, I cannot agree with you more that the familiarity of young students with "musical" podcasts provides the foundation for these students to redirect the same technology to a different media. It's almost like going from riding a bmx bike to riding a mountain bike. The transition is subtle enough that the learning curve is transparent.
The potential obstacle for adult learners is the learning, as you said, "from scratch". If adults are not entering an online class with some foundation to the required technologies, it may create an environment of anxiety and confusion. Well done. Bill
